About

Welcome to 42network.com.

This site will give you a short overview of the sites we operate on the web, our history and what we’re all about. 42network.com provides quality internet content (in other words, we write about stuff and run our own websites) and has done so since 1999. Starting out with stock market info site stock42.de and party pic site assdown.com, we then moved on to more serious projects such as locationsite.de and in general, more travel-related websites.

Since the first dotcom death era in 2001, running a stock market site after just having blown all funds on internet startups simply no longer seemed like fun to us. Unlike travelling, which we still like to do. And seeing everyone we partnered up with at the time to do assdown move into porn, we decided to drop that project as well. Everyone except collegehumor.com, that is, who actually managed to grow quite a business out of a college drinking site.

In 2001, we started our online travel guide with panoramic images, covering ten cities in Germany and the U.S. – which it still does. In a time when most people still used modems and video streaming, or something like youtube, was outrageously expensive and inconceivable for a small website such as ours, panoramic images were a pretty neat idea. We still think they’re a nice way of getting inside views of, say, hotel rooms. So for the past ten years locationsite has provided cityguides covering the best hotels, bars, restaurants and clubs available. Due to our unique content, we often syndicated this to other websites – some of which are still around and thriving such as hotel.de, expedia.de and various other travel sites, and some that didn’t make it, such as lycos.de or freenet.de.

Anyway, after ten years on the internet we’re glad to say that we’re still around. We are currently working on a complete relaunch of locationsite.de, our urban lifestyle travelguide, which will soon be ready to go online, some time in spring of 2011 when we celebrate its tenth year online.

Stay tuned for more news!
